Neurointervention (NIR) Curriculum

NIR’s aims are:

  1. Student will developed into the anatomy and pathophysiology for brain aneurysm endovascular approaches.
  2. Student will explore thrombectomy procedures, thrombolytic therapy and neuroprotective strategies aimed at optimizing patient outcomes in acute stroke cases.
  3. You will learn about the multidisciplinary approach to Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) management, including preoperative planning, navigation, and postoperative care to achieve favorable outcomes for patients with AVMs.
  4. They will explore about the advantages or radial access, such as reduced risk of complications and enhanced patient comfort also will provided the hands-on training in radial artery catheterization techniques.

NIR training comprises:

  1. Didactic lectures.
  2. Hands-on training using high-fidelity 3D printed simulators
  3. Observation of live cases.

IR/NIR trainees are expected to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the following core topics during the course of their training:

  1. Acute Ischemic Stroke
  2. Brain Aneurysm
  3. Arteriovenous Malformation
  4. Latest Radial Technique Procedure

Beyond enhancing their clinical skills in neurointervention, trainees are encouraged to cultivate and demonstrate a keen interest in contributing to scholarly publications.

Participant’s Supervisory and Patient Care Responsibilities

NIR trainees will provide consultative services to both inpatients and outpatients, supervised by the expertise. They will be involved in evaluating patients, planning treatments, and providing post-procedural care, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced professionals.

Procedural Requirements

NIR trainees will learn how to perform thrombectomy procedures, administer thrombolytic therapy, and use neuroprotective strategies to treat acute stroke cases. Through hands-on training, supervised clinical experiences, and classroom education, they will gain the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective and timely treatments, ultimately improving patient outcomes in acute stroke situations.

Evaluation

Trainees will be provide the one-to-one session from the expertise for personalized feedback and goal setting tailored to your individual needs. In addition, this session also can help your performance and identify areas for improvement to help you reach your full potential.
